Data Cabling
Regarding network setups, we here at Network Connections are long-time experts. We have worked in this field since 1993 and love what we do. Of course, as part of what we do comes the need for cabling systems, our bread, and butter. Our decades of experience have made us highly adept at creating, organizing, and setting up data cable systems. We run multiple types of cable as part of our services, but with the high computer and technology use in the modern age, data cabling is one of the most common services we provide.
What is Data Cable?
As is possibly clear from the name, data cabling involves running cables to transmit large loads of data at high speeds between two or more points in the system. Data cabling connects various equipment and hardware within an infrastructure, such as racks, computers, printers, etc. When done correctly, the devices and equipment can send and receive data to achieve various tasks.
Data Cabling Speeds
Depending on the needs of your business, we have multiple types of data cables available. For example, we can install CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6, and Fiber OM1-OM5 if you need the rapid-fire transfer speeds. CAT cables are constructed out of copper and have incredible speeds, but they can only transfer data at ideal speeds up to around 100m. Fiber cables, on the other hand, can maintain rates up to 500m-2km. In other words, CAT cables are typically better for shorter distances, and fiber offers more options for longer distances. This way, even the busiest and bustling businesses can have the data transfer efficiency they want.
Connecting Your Devices
We can typically accommodate all the devices you currently use in your business. The only possible exception is if there is any outdated equipment that will not mesh well with a modern network. Otherwise, wiring can ensure that your devices properly work, send data, and integrate any new machines or equipment you would like to add.
Data Cable Systems – Point to Point vs. Structured
There are two primary ways cabling is complete in a business: point-to-point. Point-to-point cabling means storage units, servers, and more connect with a “jumper” fiber cable. Unfortunately, this method can lead to many tangled wires and complex managing equipment. We instead use the second method, which is called Structured Cabling. This is where all servers, units, etc., are run to a central hub, the Main Distribution Center. Structured cabling allows cables to run much more organized, and you can make changes from one location. This method saves a lot of space and time and dramatically boosts efficiency.
